DEMIAN, CLEVER AUSTIN & KIRKIS DEBUT SHOW AT THE WORKERS CLUB

If rhythm’s your thing, get down to The Workers Club and check out the debut shows of Demian, Clever Austin and Kirkis. These bands feature some of Melbourne’s best musicians, including players from Hiatus Kaiyote and Gypsy and the Cat.

DUNE “SHOESTRING” SINGLE LAUNCH SHOWS

Melbourne singer song-writer Dune will be releasing her debut single “Shoestring” at the end of July and is celebrating it with two special launch gigs in August. You may know Dune better as Jade MacRae, known for her work with The Sleepy Jackson and Phrase.

MR MAPS TOUR AND RELEASE SPLIT 7” WITH HUNZ

Brisbane math-rockers Mr. Maps have released a split 7” with mates Hunz, featuring new tracks from both! It’s a great idea and it sports the sounds both bands are renowned for. To celebrate the record, Mr. Maps are heading down the east coast for a few shows.

KILL CITY CREEPS HEADLINING THE VANGUARD

Kill City Creeps are going to be playing their reuniting headline show in Sydney in August! Celebrating the return of their keys player, the show at The Vanguard will be the band’s first headline gig in some time. Kill City Creeps are going to be supported by Peep Tempel and The Harlots from Melbourne, both bands who are currently enjoying successes on radio at the moment.

CASINO RUMBLERS, BATFOOT! & NUDIST COLONIES OF THE WORLD

Three smashing bands are set to perform at the Townie in Newtown next week – if you’re into psychobilly, punk and some dirty rock fun, this is one for you. Casino Rumblers, the psychobilly rockers out of Sydney will be leading the night of debauchery, followed by punk octet Batfoot!, who’ve just released their debut record. Rounding out the bill is Nudist Colonies of the World, bringing some melodic punk tones to the mix.

RIVER OF SNAKES, THE WALK ON BY & SPACE TICKET AT THE LANSDOWNE

It may be scheduled for Friday the 13th, but don’t let superstition get in the way of you and some live tunes! The Lansdowne will be showcasing three bands in noise-punk act River of Snakes, Sydney post-punk rockers The Walk On By and the grunge styles of Space Ticket. Cadence Commotions presents the 24th Counterfeit tribute night, celebrating the 100th birthday of the legendary Woody Guthrie. 12 acts including Subtle Vagrants, Foxtrot and The Sweet Jelly Rolls will be covering the troubadour’s songs from the afternoon into the night.

GEORGIA FAIR RETURNING TO THE STANDARD WITH FULL BAND

Georgia Fair have been impressing audiences all over recently, after scoring the national support slot on Lisa Mitchell’s recent Heavenly Sounds church tour. Next Friday, the band are returning to the stage for a special headlining show at The Standard – if you weren’t able to catch them over the past few months, make sure you get down there to check them out!

TWERPS ANNOUNCE MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY SHOWS

Twerps will be bringing their loveable pop stylings back to Australian after huge bout of touring in the US, including a run of shows at SXSW. Since they’ve been home, Twerps have been hiding out in the studio working on their new material, some of which they’ll be showcasing live at these special gigs. The band have invited Peak Twins, Full Ugly, Bushwalking and The Stevens to support them at these gigs, making each bill most definitely an exciting night of music to look forward to!
